Reviews are a cornerstone of trust on HomeRender. They help clients choose the right talent and talent build their reputation. This guide explains how our review system works.
Our review system is designed to provide transparent feedback while protecting both clients and talent:
Mutual reviews
Both clients and talent can review each other, creating a balanced feedback system.
Review eligibility
Reviews can be left only after an order is marked as complete or canceled (with some exceptions for cancellations).
Review window
You have 10 days after order completion to leave a review. After this period, the review option is no longer available.
Rating components
Ratings include both a star rating (1-5 stars) and written feedback that explains the rating.
Public visibility
Once both parties have submitted their reviews, or the review period ends, the reviews become public. They help future clients and talent make informed decisions.
Note: Reviews are permanent and visible to the public. They help future clients and talent make informed decisions.
When leaving a review, consider these key factors to provide helpful feedback:
Communication
Was the talent responsive, clear, and professional in their communication?
Service quality
Did the delivered work meet or exceed your expectations in terms of quality?
Timeliness
Was the work delivered on time or were there unexpected delays?
Accuracy
Did the talent follow your requirements and instructions accurately?
Revisions
How well did the talent handle revision requests?
Communication
Was the client clear, responsive, and respectful in communications?
Clarity of requirements
Did the client provide clear instructions and requirements?
Reasonable expectations
Were the client's expectations reasonable given the scope and budget?
Feedback quality
Was the client's feedback constructive and specific?
Follow these steps to leave a review after order completion:
Navigate to your order history
Access your orders page and find the completed order you wish to review.
Select "Leave a Review"
Click on the "Leave a Review" button next to the completed order.
Rate with stars
Select a star rating from 1-5 that best represents your overall experience.
Write detailed feedback
Provide specific, constructive feedback explaining your rating. Be honest but professional.
Submit your review
Once you're satisfied with your feedback, submit the review. It will be published immediately.
Important: Once a review is submitted, it cannot be removed entirely, though it may be edited within certain timeframes (see below).
The review process for canceled orders differs depending on the cancellation circumstances:
Review period for canceled orders
If an order is canceled before the talent starts work (pending status), no review option is available.
If canceled after work has started, both parties may be prompted to leave a review based on the cancellation reason and work completed, if any.
Mutual cancellations
When both parties agree to cancel, reviews are still possible but should focus on the communication and professionalism exhibited during the process.
Support-initiated cancellations
If HomeRender Support cancels an order due to Terms of Service violations, they may restrict the review capability depending on the circumstances.
Tip: Even for canceled orders, maintaining professionalism in your review is important. Focus on factual information rather than emotional responses.
HomeRender displays ratings in various ways throughout the platform:
Talent profiles
Talent profiles show an overall rating (average of all reviews) and the total number of reviews received. This rating is prominently displayed to help clients evaluate talents.
Service offers
Each service offer displays ratings specific to that service, helping clients understand the talent's performance in that particular area.
Detailed reviews
Clicking through to a talent's profile reveals detailed reviews with star ratings and written feedback from previous clients.
Client profiles
Client profiles may also display ratings from talents, which helps talents decide whether to work with particular clients.
Note: A talent's overall rating is calculated as a weighted average, with more recent reviews having a slightly higher influence than older ones to reflect current performance levels.
HomeRender provides limited options for managing reviews after they've been published:
Editing your review
You can edit your own review within 3 days of submitting it. After this period, reviews are locked and cannot be changed.
Responding to reviews
Both clients and talent can respond to reviews they've received, providing additional context or addressing concerns raised in the review.
Disputing unfair reviews
If you believe a review violates HomeRender's Terms of Service (contains abusive language, false information, or irrelevant content), you can report it to Support for review.
Review removal
Reviews are rarely removed completely. However, HomeRender may remove reviews that contain harassment, personal attacks, or other violations of platform policies.
For talents, reviews significantly impact your success on HomeRender:
Search visibility
Talents with higher ratings appear more prominently in search results, increasing their chances of getting hired.
Talent levels
Maintaining high ratings is essential for progressing through HomeRender's talent levels, which offer increased visibility, higher fees, and more privileges.
Trust building
Positive reviews build credibility and trust, especially for new clients who haven't worked with you before.
Premium pricing
Talent with exceptional reviews can often command higher rates for their services.
Pro tip: Don't be afraid to politely ask satisfied clients to leave a review. Many clients simply forget to leave feedback unless prompted.
The best way to handle negative reviews is to prevent them from happening in the first place:
Set clear expectations
Be transparent about what you can deliver, how long it will take, and what's included in your service package.
Communicate proactively
Keep clients informed throughout the process, especially if you encounter any challenges or delays.
Listen and adapt
Be receptive to client feedback during the project and make adjustments accordingly.
Resolve issues quickly
Address any client concerns immediately rather than letting them escalate.
Go the extra mile
Exceed expectations when possible, as clients who are pleasantly surprised are more likely to leave glowing reviews.
Know when to cancel
If a project is truly not a good fit, it's sometimes better to suggest cancellation early rather than deliver work that will disappoint and lead to a negative review.
If you do receive a negative review, here's how to respond professionally:
Take time to process
Don't respond immediately if you feel upset. Take time to consider the feedback objectively.
Acknowledge concerns
Even if you disagree with the review, acknowledge the client's perspective and thank them for their feedback.
Provide context without being defensive
You can politely provide additional context if the review omits important information, but avoid appearing defensive or placing blame.
Explain improvements
If applicable, mention how you've learned from the experience and what you'll do differently in the future.
Keep it professional
Always maintain a professional tone, even if the review itself is emotional or unprofessional.
Important: How you respond to negative reviews is visible to potential clients and can impact their decision to work with you. A professional, thoughtful response to criticism can actually improve your reputation.
